37-38 Weeks

This is a picture we took of me between 37 and 38 weeks. I am feeling more and more tired and my body is just hurting more in general. Other than that, nothing new to report! :)

UPDATE!

At the doctor appointment on Monday my doctor asked me if I wanted them to try and turn the baby or schedule a C-Section. I was shocked! I didn't know I had a choice!!! I really wanted to say C-Section, but I thought that maybe I should try to have her "normally". So I said to try and turn her (which is going to hurt a lot), but on the plus side I'll get an epidural. Of course there are things that can go wrong with doing this, so keep your fingers crossed. If everything goes as planned she will turn, we will go home and wait until it's time. If something does go wrong (i.e her heart rate drops to much) they will do an emergency C-Section. This is all planned for next Thursday...

Meanwhile.... I've been laying on the ironing board, which is propped up on a chair, to help her turn. Gravity is supposed help turn the baby. We learned this at one of the baby classes we took. Our teacher gave us this paper that explained this and then said that she turned her baby using this method. So far, no success... but it's better than doing nothing!

Dr. Apt

At our last Doctor Appointment (Monday October 12th) the doctor was feeling for Emily's position, like she usually does, so she can listen to the heart rate with the sonogram. Here is when she discovered that Emily has not turned yet. She told us that by 35 weeks she should have turned to the head down position. So we went to the ultra sound room to get a quick look to see for sure that we was breech. As the doctor was looking we could see that he head was up in between my ribs (which is where I feel a lot of pressure) and her feet were were by her head. She is so flexible!! The doctor kept looking around and was doing some measurements. I got a feeling that something was wrong because she really was not saying anything. Apparently, there is not a lot of amniotic fluid. There is supposed to be between 8cm and 24cm of fluid for the baby. After doing the measurements she told us that there is only 9cm of fluid for Emily. She advised me to drink a lot of water and come back on Friday to check fluid levels. All week long I drank so much water I was sick of it! I couldn't drink anymore!! Friday came and we went to our appointment to discover that the level of fluid has not changed. The ultrasound technician told us that she is probably breech because there is not a lot of fluid and she can not turn. I'll have to go in weekly to get the levels checked and if they get to low I will have to be induced. At our child birth class I asked the instructor and she gave me some ways to turn the baby naturally. Basically it's laying with your butt in the air and letting gravity turn the baby. I just hope that everything works out. I actually wouldn't mind getting a C-section... it'd be a lot easier that's for sure! :)

Here we are at 34 weeks. I am feeling huge and very uncomfortable. By the end of the day I am exhausted and ready for bed (a feeling I am sure will not go away for a looong time). I've been really busy with student teaching so I have not had time to post on here. Baby shower in Sunbury was tons of fun. I was so happy to see people that I have not seen in a while, and we also got a lot of things that we need. As I am trying to put things away, I am wondering... where all of stuff is going to fit? Surely not in our apartment!! My mom is going to come and give me some much needed help in organization.. anyone else who wants to help is more than welcome!!
