First Month

I am just amazed at how much Emily has changed! The first month actually went pretty smooth. We went from bottle back to breast feeding which was a little difficult, but we made it through it. Emily was not a very good at feeding while we were in the hospital so they suggested that we give her a bottle. I did this reluctantly knowing it would be difficult to go back to breast feeding. Emily now feeds very well! On the plus side of the bottle situation, she will breast feed OR bottle feed.. which is nice when we go places.

Emily is so much more aware now. She is awake for longer stretches of time and looks around at everything. She really likes to look at the Christmas tree because of the lights and we hold her close to the tree to show her some of the special ornaments we have. She also is really curious about her surrounding. When we are in a place that she has never been before she is wide awake and checking it out.

For the first couple weeks Emily slept in the bassinet in our room because it was really hard for me to get out of bed. Emily now sleeps in her own room which is a little annoying, because she wakes up about four times a night, which means that I have to get out of bed instead of just rolling over. But it's all worth it! :)

We decided that for my Mom's birthday we would make a special surprise trip to Sunbury and make her dinner. She had no idea! Dave and I got there about 3 hours before she got home from work and I cleaned up by doing the dishes and vacuuming. Then Dave and I went into town to get a few things. When my mom came home and saw that the dishes were done and laundry put away, she thought that she lost her mind! Who did it?? She didn't think that she did, and she knew that my Dad wouldn't either! Amy and Aunt Karen met up at the workshop then we drove down to the house and went to the front door. We rang the door bell and when mom answered we started to sing Happy Birthday. She was so surprised she cried! She said that it was the best birthday present.

Thanksgiving was great. We went to Dave's aunt Sue's home which is right down the street. We were a little late because it took us a little longer to get ready. After Emily was dressed and we were ready to go, Emily spit up all over her black Thanksgiving dress. So we changed her and it took us a little while. The food was excellent, as usual, and everyone loved seeing the new addition to the family.

Emily finally fits into some 0-3 month clothing and some of the newborn stuff she has outgrown! It is exciting and depressing all at the same time. I'm excited because that means that she is growing and is healthy, but it's depressing because she is just growing to fast! It feels like just yesterday she was born! My mom says the same thing about me!!! :) For a while Emily didn't fit in the swing, she was just to small... but now, she fits perfectly.

I decided that instead of purchasing baby announcements, which are kind of expensive, that I would make them. As usual I get myself into projects that take a long time to finish, but I finally did! You should be receiving then in the mail soon! :)

All in all, everything is going great. Emily is a joy and a blessing and we are so happy she is in our lives! :)
